Inspiration-Manaslu

In May 2007 seven contemporary artists, Erina Tamrakar, Bidhata K.C, Bhawana Manandhar, Sunil Ranjit, Sagar Manandhar, Lal Kaji Lama and Prashant Gurung travelled through the Manaslu region and captured their impressions on canvas. The team trekked through the villages of Arughat, Lapu, Tatopani, Salleri, Dyang, Gap, Shyo, Sama and Samdo in Gorkha district before entering Manang district via Larke Pass (5100m), and continued through the Bhimtang Valley, the villages of Tilche, Tal and Ghermu before ending the trek in Besisahar, the district headquarters of Lamjung district.

MYS organized the opening of an art exhibition event “The Mountain of Spirit” at Garden of Dreams, Thamel which was launched by Minister for Tourism, Ms. Hisila Yami followed by Kutumba Live and attended by various foreign ambassadors to Nepal dated on 10th April, 2009. Later the same exhibition was held in Hanuman Dhoka, Ktm, Durbar square; 26th April – 28th April 2009 from 2:00 pm to 5:00pm and at Yala Maya Kendra, Patan Dhoka for four consecutive days from 11 May – 14 May, 2009 from 11:00 am to 06:00 pm.

The exhibition cum sale was part of the larger Inspiration Manaslu campaign which aimed to promote the remote Manaslu region in Gorkha district as a tourist destination so locals can benefit from increased incomes from tourism.
